- This painting was inspired by my admiration for Patrick Caulfield’s work and his use of simple, bold, recognisable forms. I wanted to create something new in that spirit — colourful, direct and easy to read.
  The idea came after visiting a pottery where rows of pots were displayed along a single long shelf. It struck me that repeating this idea across three shelves of bright, ordered forms could be visually strong and quietly eye-catching.
  I chose to show only some of the pots as cracked, introducing a sense of imperfection and difference within an otherwise controlled arrangement. The shelves themselves echo something familiar — objects you might already expect to find on a wall.
  The pots have a matt, unglazed surface, as if paused mid-process, waiting for the next stage rather than presented as finished objects.
